Q re Duty Free JFK-LHR-MAN + another T5 -> T3 question

Got an upcoming Upper flight to the US and have read conflicting reports on whether I would be allowed to bring in duty free from JFK and be able to pass from T3 to T5 at LHR.

Some reports say that only duty free purchased from EU airports will be let through, so I thought I would ask here.

We will be flying VS from JFK, then at Heathrow we have a connecting flight to MAN with BA,

On the flip side, Can someone please advise which is the best way to get from T5 to T3 on our outbound leg. Flight Transfer or head out, train and go back in via the virgin upper channel ?

I have been waiting to see a reply from our learned flyers as I too have had received differing replies from staff on the subject.
Connected more than a few times through LHR to MAN but never had a definitive answer so have never bothered to carry any duty free.
Regarding transfers, only done 'same day' ones through T1 and T2 using the transfer bus. T5 off BA have always involved an overnight stay, usually at the Hilton. The connect train is reasonably good if not dragging luggage but there is some walking involved, think of it as part of your keep fit regime!

You have 3 options between T5 and T3.

1. Flight connections. Follow the purple signs and get a bus over to T3 (if luggage is checked all the way) busses are every 10 mins I think.

2. The Heathrow Express. Free between terminals and runs every 15 mins. This means going landslide and then back through security at T3.

3. The Piccadilly Line. Free between terminals with oyster or a contactless card. Trains are more frequent than the HEX but the station is further to walk at Central.

I personally would use flight connections as this is possibly the easiest way unless you know exactly where you are going within the airport and its tunnels.

The rules changed last year to allow you to bring duty free liquids from any country through security.

The important part of this is that any liquids have to be sealed in a tamper-proof bag with the receipt inside. If the bag isn't sealed or the receipt isn't inside chances are you wont be able to take it.

Will be flying back from the US, last time we did, They staple the receipt in the bag and staple the bag shut, so should be ok. Alternate is to buy it on the outbound and put it in my checked luggage I guess
