We used the LAX clubhouse on Tuesday and, as there isn't much info about it online, I thought I'd post a quick summary of our trip.

First of all, T2 is a complete mess at the moment. There is scaffolding and building work everywhere, limited security checkpoints (so long lines) and very few shops/restaurants. The clubhouse is a welcome haven of tranquility with fantastic views over the Hollywood hills and beyond and over the airport.

The welcome was very friendly and we were given a quick tour - the clubhouse seemed very small to me and I didn't like the seating layout - there are some awkward low sofas and uncomfortable plastic chairs etc. and they're spotted out in weird places throughout the lounge. There is a formal dining area set up at the back. Lots of charging points and some good seats at the windows for solo travellers.

The menu was very disappointing. There are three salad offerings and you can choose to add chicken or salmon to them. The two salads we chose were okay, but noting special. The side dishes you could choose included a salmon slider, some taco dish etc. No more substantial options such as a clubhouse burger etc. and I definitely wouldn't count on having a pre-flight "meal" here. One definite "do not miss" is the absolutely delicious miso donuts with caramel sauce - truly delicious and one passenger even asked for a small box of them to take on the plane, which the staff happily provided!

There is a good cocktail menu and also a great juices section with three different specially blended drinks that are designed to rejuvenate/provide antioxidants etc. and (supposedly) prepare you for a healthy flight.

No shower facilities but we were given passes for the showers in the Air New Zealand lounge, which is about a 3 minute walk down the corridor.

Staff were excellent - very attentive and friendly and they let everyone know when it was time to board.

It's certainly no LHR/JFK clubhouse but it is a nice space and the service and setting is top notch. If they could improve the variety of cooked food options and maybe add a small cold buffet to choose some light snacks, I'd rate it as excellent. y)

Thanks for the Review y) y)

Firstly, the fact that T2 remains a dire place is not unsurprising - many of us were no doubt hoping that a Clubhouse could make the place more bearable.

your review confirms this is the case, but that it is not a place you could spend and extended time in, so perhaps we have to be grateful for small mercies ;)

Disappointing about no hot food but I suspect this is the limitations of the accommodation rather than any conscious decision by VS.

Thanks once gain for giving us the insight and also congratulations for beating the VS IT Hamster ):

If you read the thread by Scott Wats on the same subject, he saw someone eating a cheeseburger & fries and established you can order off menu.

The menu sounds very LA - lots of salads for the diet obsessed showbiz luvvies, which is probably the image VS are trying to project.

You guys are so lucky. When I was leaving LAX in 2013 the VA Clubhouse wasn't there. Had to use Air France lounge. We left after an hour and sat in Burger King. No joke, it was that bad. Think 1980's office furniture. Grim.
