I have just been on my East Coast/ Virgin Train account and you can now convert your expiring miles from East Coast trains to your Virgin Atlantic account at a rate of 1 to 6. You have until the 30th September or you will lose them. 
Yes I did what was left of mine a couple of days ago, so annoying as I blew a load of mine on KX 1st class lounge, just so I didn't loose them, before this option was available :-(
