PE upgrade

Hi guys,
when i next visit HK i want to use my miles for a 2 way upgrade to PE. should i do this when i book or should i do this at the airport? Also what is the new plastic terror seat like as it looks quite nice when i walked passed it (hangs head in shame ). and am i right in thinking it will cost 20000 miles in all? thanks again.

Yes, 20k miles is the rate for a two-way upgrade from EC to PE, but not all types of EC tickets are upgradeable (it needs to be Y, B or L). I think your best bet is to book over the phone with flying club, who will be able to ensure that you get an upgradable fare-class and let you know if there are upgrade seats availble on the flight you want (they are limited in quantity). If you can't get an upgrade when you book, then more upgrade seats sometimes bevome availbale nearer the time(if they haven't be sold to full fare-paters) so it's worth phoning again or trying at the airport.

Depending on your flexibility requirements and relative fare prices, you may also find that you can get a discount PE ticket for not much more thatn an upgradeable EC
