Hi folks,

I have a trip to Singapore next month which is on separate reward tickets from VS and CX connecting via Hong Kong. Does anyone know or have experience regarding if I'll be able to check my baggage all the way through to my final destination?

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Matt,

I'm guessing your connecting at HKG. You won't be able to interline your bags but I've done quite a few connecting flights on separate tickets, coming in on VS and leaving on CX and the easiest thing is to go to the CX ticket desks inside arrivals and don't go through immigration. They will be able to locate your bag for you and then reissue you a new baggage label and make sure it gets on the right plane. You then pass through a second security screening and back up into the departure lounge. All done!

Hope that helps.

Its 9 years ago so might no longer be relevant. I had completely separate tickets from Newcastle to Heathrow (BA via BA.com) and then Heathrow-Hong Kong-Melbourne (Cathay Pacific via Ebooker or Travelocity i think). I just asked politely during check-in at Newcastle if they could check my bag all the way through to Melbourne, they did no problem.

Hey Croy, that sounds great. I guess it may have been because of the One World connection and inter line agreement. Alliances do work out well some times!

I've asked a few times at the VS desks and I don't think VS have an inter line with CX as I've been told it isn't possible on both occasions I've asked (twice this year).

HTH!
