i've not done all of the VS routes by any means, but i've formed the theory that the 'mood' varies by route

the 'non-holiday' transatlantic routes seem the ones with the cheeriest CC, whereas DXB is pretty much bottom of the list

is it my imagination, or have other vflyers noticed the same?

I've found Gatwick ones cheerful and chatty, and Heathrow ones overworked and grumpy.

Not so much by route, but i do often find the outbound service to be more competent and upbeat.

I tend to agree although on one trip back from MCO a very attractive young lady said as I boarded,
" Didn't I take you out a couple of weeks ago?"
Initially I was confused thinking I'm sure I would have remembered going out with her when I realised she was one of the CC on my outbound journey which was four weeks early. Full marks for remembering a face that long. And a very good service all the way home.

Definitely. Found the crew on MAN-LAS completely different to any other upper class flight I've done. Much less accommodating, much less fun and nothing like the "enabling" attitude I've experienced previously. All the other clubhouse staff, UC CC and even PE CC I've met have been very much about encouraging you to have a drink and enjoy yourself, on that flight it felt much more like they just wanted to get through the flight as quickly as possible and get off.

For me, it's less about the route and more about the FSM, they set the tone to the flight. A fun, efficient FSM leads to an enjoyable flight.

Sometimes I wish they turned the clubhouse staff into flight attendants. They always seem happy and trying to make you feel special atleast.
