I want to book two reward flights; I have the 100k miles for my ticket in my account and my partner has the 100k miles for their ticket in their own account.

Can I call FC to book the two tickets together on the phone so that we have one booking ref and don't have to risk availability changing online by booking them separately?

Do I need to have my partner with me to speak to them or will they let me do it all?

Thanks!

Yes, I have done this twice in recent months.

Hi

Yes it's really easy. The other person will need to either ring up beforehand and get FC to note their authority for you to use their account, or be with you when you make the booking to give authority at the time. It does mean though that you have to make the bookings by phone rather than through the web.

I set hubby's and mine's FC accounts to be accessed by either of us back in 2007, and for every booking since where we've booked MPM or G's (grand total of four trips!) I've just done it over the phone without him being around! I do of course let him know what I'm up to ;-)

As others have said, yes. Get authority on all accounts you want to us - I have booked 2 G's with miles from 3 accounts. As long as you have enough for 1 sector, you can use any account you have authority or control over.

Really? :-O We have never done that. I have always just rang and booked quoting the appropriate FC account details. OH has never spoken to a FC agent at any point, about anything, let alone issued authority to speand all the FC miles.

Maybe I just have an authorative telephone voice? :-P

Hi, im not sure if its bad etiquette to ask a question on someones thread but please ignore me if so, sorry!

I am saving on my FC account, the kids and wife also have FC accounts but are not saving as much as me, once we have enough miles to book upgraded flights, can we combine all our miles together to do so please? they will have about 40,000 miles by the time we want to use them in 2017 I will have many more.

Thankyou

Quite so!

Though as an International Hitman I guess you find the same?

Firstly LovelyJubbly, there is not need to apologise :D This is a very friendly forum and no one is going to jump on you for asking questions. We all love to help if we can. There are quite a few geeks on here and someone will usually have the answer 8-)

In answer to your question, I believe each FC member needs to have enough miles in their account for one leg of the journey, you can not just all pool your miles together to pay for the flights. But someone with a better knowledge of the rules will be along to confirm or deny this soon.

It's as Maximus says - you can take from multiple accounts but each account has to have enough to cover the miles for a specific leg of the journey - you cannot pool them. So let's say you wanted to upgrade from Economy to Upper on a New York flight, which is 20000 miles per leg, and LJ Junior #1 has 20000 miles, and LJ Junior #2 has 20000 miles then all is good and that leg can be upgraded for both. If LJ Junior #1 has 10000 miles and LJ Junior #2 30000 miles, then that won't work as you can't deploy #2's excess to cover #1's shortfall. Not without undertaking a transfer of miles, which can be done but has a cost associated with it...

Can't figure out how to 'quote' sorry

On the post you wish to quote, click on the balloon icon to the right of the like button at the top righthand corner of the post. It should then appear in a reply pane looking like this

(quote="LovelyJubbly"]Thankyou Maximus!

Can't figure out how to 'quote' sorry[/quote)

but with square brackets at the beginning and end of the quote.

You just continue to post as normal underneath your quote.

This is where BA is slightly better with the household account to be able to combine avios. Although I've yet to spend my avios as I'm saving for a special trip :)

We want to go back to Japan as we fell in love with it. And we want to go first class. I'm not far off collecting my BA Amex 241. 8-)

How exciting, we are there with the spend, or will be this month. We can't decide where to go and we still need a few more miles to ensure we can go peak/maximum distance in First. This will be our first 241 and we want to do a good 'un!
