Looking at flights MCO to Manchester next year PE and to come back via Atlanta its £150 cheaper each pax which will save us £450 as a family but we have the connection and a 2 or 3 hour lay over. Just wanted to ask are there many places to eat/drink in the terminal at Atlanta - I know MCO not great but at least there is The Outback. Just want somewhere decent to have a meal as it will make up for the stop. Also would anyone recommend the 3 hour lay over rather than the 2? Many thanks.

Atlanta Airport could be described as a tale of two cities. There are the domestic terminals, which like many a US Airport, seem just like a railway station and there is the shinny new International Terminal which is far nicer that the other Terminals and indeed MCO.

If you are ticketed direct from MCO through to MAN, then when you check in at MCO, the next time you see your bags will be in MAN.

After leaving the plane at ATL, you follow signs for the train to whisk you through to the International Terminal and after coming up from the escalator you will be in a shining, new Terminal - Airside!! As it is an international terminal it is not as crowded as the one at MCO. There are the usual food court offerings on the upper level, but there is a good restaurant tucked away on the lower level on the way to the Gates.

If you have a through ticket (i.e. you do not have to collect and then re-check your bags) then two hours will be more than enough

Thank you I think Atlanta may become the route of choice with the prices, just hoping some good Upper Fares come out then I can push the upgrade button. The little restaurant sounds good. I've gone for the 2 hour layover hopefully the Duty Free offerings will be better than MCO which have been dire in the last 2 trips.
