Having sorted out my seat for my outbound flight on a 747 I am now looking at the return on an A330 (LGW)). I got free exit seat assignments due to an issue with my booking and have currently got 50K, but I then saw some comments about the door butting into the legroom. However, unlike the exit A/K seats on the 747 most people said that the door on the A330 made a good leg rest. Since it will be an overnight flight this could work well for me as I like to have my legs up. Has anyone sat in this seat and can advise please? The last thing I want is to pay for an exit seat and end up with no legroom. 50H is currently free although I would rather avoid aisle near the loos due to people standing around waiting.

I have sat in 50K exit row seat on the A330 ( LHR ) on a number of over night flights to DXB.
The bulge in the door does make on ideal place to rest your feet on, if you can find a spare pillow to put under your feet all the better. I also like to put my feet up, being short if I'm sat right back in my seat my feet will not touch the floor. I would personally choose 50K over 50H.
Hope this helps.

I recently sat in 50k on the 330 from MAN to LAS. overall I'd say it was a good seat for me. I'm 6ft 1 and the slide in the exit door does protrude into your leg space (especially your right leg on the K side). But it's far enough away to sit normally without an issue, whilst also being close enough to use as a good foot rest.

The only negatives were the slight narrowing of the seat because the tray table is in the fixed arm rests. And the arm rest on the right side (if you're in K) has about a third chopped off its length so it doesn't impede the exit door. But the arm rest still provided support where I wanted it so it wasn't an issue for me.

I had the same debate as you and in the end I was glad I chose the seat. In summary it's got vast amounts of extra space despite the door slide and most importantly there's nobody in front to recline in to your face!

Thanks both. My concern was that it would protrude like the slide does on the 747 door, which really reduces leg room but I am going to stick with 50K, sounds ideal for me. Last time I flew to Jo'burg I had a K exit seat with no slide bulge and put my hand luggage case on the floor in front of me with a pillow on it and it made a great footrest!

Hi, I sat in 50A on a flight from Manchester to Atlanta in April and found the door makes a great foot rest. The seat is not as wide as the other seats due to the table but it was a great seat.
