Didn't want to add on to the recent "south terminal" thread so thought I'd stick my thoughts in a new one.

Arrived back into Gatwick yesterday after another great flight, TR to follow and after getting through baggage reclaim and immigration at around 8.00am, decided I "wouldn't manage my connection" from Heathrow to Dublin which was supposed to be 9.15am ;-)

I had a backup plan of a flight back to Edinburgh with BA which of course left from the North Terminal.

I've been lucky the past few times coming back from the Orlando area arriving back into Glasgow, Manchester or even Heathrow via the now many Delta connections, but haven't been in the North Terminal for a few years

Now we all know that Gatwick has spent a small fortune in the South Terminal over the past few years and it's all pretty new and shiney and for what's basically a shopping mall, pretty acceptable for all.....

The North Terminal, on the other hand - wow, that's going to be a shock to the system for all travelling from Gatwick in January after the Terminal change :-O

It's not changed in many years and compared to the South, is light years behind.

Bring on the new Clubhouse and v-room but be prepared for probably more years of disruption when I guesssing the modernisation of the main Terminal will start.

Having recently picked up a neighbour returning on an EasyJey flight, could not agree more!

As things currently stand, the Arrivals area in the North Terminal is an absolute shambles - from what I understand, the building work is now a few months behind and one can only hope Gatwick Management soon get a grip. I suspect as EasyJet are now the prime users, pressure will be brought to bear in advance of the changeover in January.

I totally agree. North terminal is dreadful. My daughter came to collect me from a flight earlier in the year and it took her half an hour to even get into the short term car park as only one lane was open and some of it was blocked off. The arrivals hall is a shambles and as for the departure lounge......it's a horrible place. I'm dreading when Virgin have to fly from there.

I may have to go and visit it just to get the lay of the land.
In Feb we are staying at the Hampton as it has a walkway into the terminal.
I was picturing it as similar to the Hilton and the South Terminal.
Am I in for a shock?

I just need a client at Crawley police station to get me over that way.

Hampton is Hilton's budget brand so generally not as good as the main Hilton brand. Having said that I've stayed in some very run down Hiltons and some brand new Hamptons.

The LGW one is clean and comfortable but fairly basic and the breakfast area feels more school canteen than restaurant.

As for the North Terminal, it's certainly sub-par at the moment but LGW's owners are investing millions in refurbishing it as they did the South. Obviously that'll take time but I believe the new priority security area opened recently and with a brand new Clubhouse on the way it shouldn't be too bad for UC passengers or Golds at any rate.

Breakfast in the hotel?
No no no. That's what the Clubhouse is for.
We only live 40 miles away but stay on the airport to get an early run at the CH.
