Access to JFK Clubhouse alternative?

Hi all,

We're heading out to NYC in November - UC out and PE on the return. As we won't get access to the JFK CH it would be nice to have somewhere in JFK for $$$ (much like No1 Lounge here). Does anyone have any experiences with JFK lounges other than the CH?

IIRC there is the 'wing tips' lounge which is pay to enter in T4.

You can also buy a day pass for the Delta SkyClub which, although no Clubhouse, isn't too bad these days.

If you're considering Wingtips, save your money. It really isn't worth the entry fee. It wasn't even worth wasting a Priority Pass entry on if I'm honest.

Air France & KAL use T1 so they're not accessible to VS passengers.

AFAIK the only pay-to-enter options at T4 are Delta SkyClub and Wingtips.

The Sky Club in T4 is really nice. Heck of a long walk to get there from security though!

It has it's moments but gets ridiculously busy and has a two tier food and drink system, the free drinks are what they call lower shelf in the US (perfectly fine if all you want is a beer or glass or wine) and the free food is a pretty dire simple buffet. Better options need to be paid for.

I'm seeing this more and more these days though to be honest. I seem to remember the only "premium" items in the past used to be champagne. These days I frequently see whole menus of premium items, and the non-premium items tend to be pretty undesirable. Yesterday I was in the Stansted Escape Lounge, I had an hour to kill and fancied a small whisky and a bottle of beer. The only free choice I had was carlsberg and Bells. I ended up paying a fair bit to have peroni and Jack Daniels. Hardly premium!

Hardly worth paying for Priority Pass these days when the lounges are as busy as the terminals and you still have to pay for half decent drinks.

Having said that, as it is I would still much rather spend my time in a lounge than in the terminal

Lounge operators and some airlines have come to realise that rather than just providing a perk for elite status-holders and premium passengers, there's a good profit to be made from people who are happy to pay to get into a lounge and equally happy to pay for "premium" products once they're in.

If i'm not flying VS and I'm in JFK T4, I normally just grab a meal at Shake Shack and wait by the gate of departure.
Have you posted your flight on the calendar? If there's a VS AU member on the same flight, that person may be able to guest you in the JFK CH (if you ask nicely.) I think it's still possible for VS AU members to bring a guest to the CH if that person is on the same VS flight as you.
It's at least a 10 minute walk from the Delta Skyclub to the VS gates in Terminal 4.
