Just a quick check in from Joey and a very good evening from the Hong Kong clubhouse where the service is as faultless as always.

My final visit here before they close the clubhouse's doors for the last time. A sad occasion for the most part but it has caused me to reminisce about all the time spent here over the years. Lots of fun memories.

Thank you for the good times HKG CH, you will be missed ;-(

So sad, I'll be flying back to the UK via HK on 25th, will really miss the CH, always saw it an an area to chill after the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.

The LHR clubhouse & the HKG clubhouse went a very long way in making my route and the UC experience something to look forward to, a huge chunk will now be missing.....................

not tried the Plaza lounge yet but it looks dreary from when I popped my head in.
The good news (for some) is that Amex are opening a lounge towards the end of the year which I suspect will be better than Plaza.

The closure because of costs shows how thin the margins are on this route with the huge competition. I wonder if Virgin will still be flying the route in 5 years?

5 years? I'll be surprised if it's still there in 5 months ....I wouldn't say the competition is huge either ? BA, CX. Can't think of any others ( NZ went a while ago didn't it?)

BA do operate the 380 plus another 777 flight daily, plus CX have 5 flights a day so that is a lot of capacity.

Doesn't the Hong King route also fall into one of the bilateral airline route agreements the UK and China have set-up so I don't think it's quite so easy to just drop those routes is it?
