After years and years of going west with Virgin (the last few in UC thanks to you guys) we switched to collecting avois and cashed in our 241 voucher to go east. We are going to Seoul then Japan, sadly there's no first on the Seoul flight but we did manage to bag first on the Tokyo return, at the moment this route is on the 787-9 which I am keen to experience so I hope it stays that way. As were only getting first on the return we won't get the concorde room or anything but Im sure 12 1/2 hours in first will still get the full first experience. So i know its a trip to the dark side but Virgin don't really fly that way, might use them when we plan our China trip.

If Tokyo arrives in T5 in the morning, you'll get the First Dining room in Arrivals. Basically Waiter service rather than self service breakfast.

Well done and I’m sure you’ll have a good time. What you will get on the return is the JAL Sakura / First Lounge at Tokyo, and they’re pretty darn good. Chilled out, good food, plenty of self service booze including champagne iirc, and I think draft sake too. Are you flying from NRT or HND?

we had the choice of both HND or NRT and went with NRT, I know not everyone agrees but the flight time of 1pm vs 9am and the 787-9 over a 777 swung it for me.

There’s not much difference between the two in terms of travel time, depending on your starting point in Tokyo, NRT is about an hour by car or train and HND. 30-40 mins. Have a great trip.
