Hi all,

I wondered what people's thoughts are on VS25? I'm booked on VS137 at the moment but want to upgrade to UC, with VS25 being the only flight available at the moment. In theory, it makes sense to catch a later flight so I can do work during the morning, but getting to JFK so late makes me wonder what it does to your body clock etc.

Anyone love VS25 or have the opposite feelings towards it?!

I use to take the VS25 quite a lot - it was my favourite VS operated flight to JFK from LHR. Mainly as I could work a full day, head to the airport and then arrive into New York late evening.

...then more or less get back on track the next morning. I would just avoid falling to sleep on the flight, can be difficult as you are battling your own body clock (which naturally wants to switch off!) and on most flights the crew do operate as a night-flight departure (sleep suits are provided in UC, lights dimmed etc)

It's a very popular flight most nights and usually the most peaceful as most people do rest and are asleep. I wouldn't hesitate in taking it again.

Hope that is helpful.

I've only taken it on the one occasion and echo the same thoughts as Jon. I think it appeals greatly to the Business travellers who can do a full day of work and then skip off to the airport in time for the 8pm flight.

Last time I took it I arrived at my NY accommodation at around half past midnight. I was in PE and managed to get a little sleep which helped me along.

As a business traveller I'd take it for sure, as a leisure traveller I'd personally go for something a little earlier if I was given the option.

Would imagine that service-wise, the VS25 is like the VS400 to DXB (both short-ish overnight flights with later departures from LHR). Focus in Upper will be very much on fast meal service for those who want it / did not dine in the Clubhouse, then sleep, before breakfast 90mins or so out of landing.

The big advantage the VS25 has is you arrive in JFK late & you'll be tired, so you still have the chance of a good few hours sleep in your hotel before you have to work the next day. Yes, it may only be 4-5hrs but better than nothing. The VS400 puts you in Dubai at 9am (so the start of the business day) & also a good few hours too early to check into most hotels unless you are on a very expensive / flexible tariff (or have the right colour loyalty card for the hotel chain in question).

On the reverse journey from JFK, the VS10 is my favourite departure - last VS out of JFK at 21:30 so you get a full day in NYC and a fairly respectable 9:30am arrival into LHR, so plenty of time for Revivals before making your way home [to the Midlands] for me. I just blank out the arrival into LHR day as a no-go for work - but am invariably online in the afternoon clearing down emails. Plan for the VS10 is always dinner in the Clubhouse, a drink onboard then sleep - forego breakfast onboard for the fresher & made to order variant in Revivals which gives an extra hour-ish of sleep.
