Per VS Flying Club's website, when you "renew" your Gold membership, you're supposed to receive a companion ticket (that I understand has all sorts of fine print, but thats besides the point.)

What does renew mean in this context?  I've been gold for at least 15-16, 16-17, and presently 17-18. When I requalified for Gold (by reaching 1000TP/40TP during the 15-16 membership year, was I supposed to receive a companion ticket?  Similarly, when I requalified for gold in 16-17, was I supposed to receive a companion ticket? At the end of this membership year, in which I've far surpassed qualification requirements, am I supposed to receive a companion ticket? There has never been a lapse in my gold membership between these years.

I've never received one -- are they electronic?  How do I use them?

Or is my understanding incorrect.  Does renew/requal mean "achieve gold multiple times within one year", or does it mean "achieve gold for the following year while still a gold for the current year"?

Am I supposed to have received these?

was gold last year, ended my membership year with like 1200 TP.  Year before that, I was also gold.

You "receive" one in the sense that one is available to you, there's no physical voucher, more a note on your account that you have one.

In terms of what is meant by "renew", at the end of your membership year, when your TPs return to zero, your account is issued the complimentary companion voucher. They last for 12 months in the sense that you must redeem them within 12 months, not take the flight within 12 months. So if you have renewed recently then you'll have one on your account available to use.

You'll need to give Flying Club a call to redeem it though. :) Hope that makes sense.
