Hi when we booked Lgw-Mco next year their was a disclaimer about changes to upper class but didn’t go into any explanation as to what changes. Does anyone know anything about this?
VS are currently leasing some ex-Air Berlin Airbus A330s to cover for a shortage of Dreamliners due to engine issues.
Those planes have not yet had the VS UC suites fitted and still have the old Air Berlin business class seats. That’s what you’re being warned about.
However they’re not currently scheduled to fly to MCO so you should have the normal seats on a 747.

Thanks for clearing that up for me gumshoe
There has been mention of a brand new upper class seat being fitted to the A350s when they come into service, as well as fitted to the A332s in time. However there's no information on this alleged new seat yet.

When I saw the title of this thread, I did wonder if it was VS announcing a "new" Upper Class seat. The existing UC Suite design must be about 14yrs old (think they started to roll it out in about 2004) and hasn't changed much, if at all. The main changes have been the cutbacks to service & amenity kit offering and the failed Dream Suite on the 330's which is being removed.
I would guess any new Upper Class seat would be pretty similar to what we have now. It is a good design that has stood the test of time well.
the only real fail of the UC seat is having to get up to turn it into a bed and because of that the limited recline - so for me in seat mode it dosen't recline enough but the bed mode is too much recline!
I wonder who'll have a newest J seat - VS or BA?

Huzzah for International Jet-setting !
I'm a totally loyal VS flyer, and didn't fly any other airline long haul for 15 years until last month when I flew business on Qatar Airways. I love the Upper Class Suite, but compared to other offering out there such as Qatar, it is pretty inferior these days. Still miles better than BA though!

Doesn’t that depend on what QR seat you get though depending on which A/C you fly on?
Excluding the current VS A332 A/C (which is being addressed), at least VS (and also BA) have a consistent product across their fleet. The likes or QR and EK still have several different seats for the same cabins across their fleet.

Yes have heard VS are getting a new seat design on the A350, like BA are. Virgin should get a A350 first thought I think, will be interesting to see the differences or if both thinking along the same lines!
Qatar are only fitting the Q-suite to 777's, it will not be on new aircraft and a rumour that their next business with be '8' abreast like BA's current offering.

My money is on a slightly different visual style of what DL already have in their A350's.
Fly's a little too much.

I don't think for one minute VS will look at that new Delta Suite for inspiration. I flew it to Korea and it's nothing special at all. Same seat as those found on Delta One fitted aircraft, same operational capabilities - only difference is you get a door. VS will surely invent something spectacular for this new fleet of planes and not stick with the same product they've had for over a decade.
The seat on QR's A350 is in my opinion the most perfect seat on the market. I classed my return flight to Adelaide last January as one of the best flights I've ever taken.
VS Gold for life *finally
