Been trying to book Flights from Lhr to Cape Town and returning from Port Elizabeth, this is obviously through Johanesburg. Tried booking online and through FC. Issue is that we want Econ Delight on the Virgin flights. The booking system will not let you book Delight with onward connections. After an hour on the phone with FC the best they could offer was return JNB flights with separate internal flights, this would mean 2 separate tickets and also mean no protection with the internal flights. Amazed I can book any other class and the system allows but no for delight. Anyway fed up with trying so may defect to Qatar or Emirates

I’ve booked a Classic Economy LHR-JNB-CPT return on Skyscanner for this summer. It’s a VS/Comair combo but I have upgraded both legs to PE with miles (Obviously VS flights only).

I phoned Flying Club and they actioned this without any problems at all. I don’t see why this should be any different to you wanting to upgrade to Economy Delight?

To my limited knowledge I don’t believe there is a “system in place” for a EC to ED upgrade so this is not possible with miles. Like Jones said I’m fair sure if you booked classic and there was room in ED then a phone call offering them the cash price difference would do the trick. Another option is ask to upgrade to prem....

Hijacking your thread since I have a question about the exact same route...

Looking to fly LHR-(JNB)-CPT, PLZ-(JNB)-LHR late next April, reward seats not released yet. Will VS be willing/able to book and ticket this together (in economy classic) and then apply a miles upgrade to Upper Class to the VS legs (subject to availability obvs)?

Secondly for anyone whose successfully applied a mileage upgrade on a Virgin Holidays booking, what was the process? Wonder if it might be advantageous to book a flydrive through them.

Thanks!

Upgrading a V Hols booked VS flight using miles is doable though it’s a bit of a faff.

I posted a while again about how to go about doing it, details here.
