This query is not for me you understand, I gave up 15 yrs ago. However, we’re flying lhr to jfk next month & my errant daughter is going to be hanging out for a cigarette! (Have tried to convince her to stop, but to no avail ...)
We’ll be arriving at lhr via virgin car to dtci. Does anyone know, will it be possible for her to have a last crafty fag when she gets out of the car, before she goes inside? Is there anywhere in T3 she can have a smoke?
(So glad I’m no longer a slave to the baccy! Insert smug-faced emoji here)

No sorry, the only place is the designated smoking area outside T3 departures. The DTCI staff *may* let her exit through the Upper Class Wing Entrance door (i.e. back-track down to the check-in desks on the ground level though I've never tried it) and then she will have to re-enter through the Upper Class wing entrance door.

Once through security there is absolutely no where to smoke air-side in any of the terminals at LHR.

(18 months smoke free here too and I don't miss it one iota  The money I saved in the first 12 months I stopped alone has paid for one of my return Upper Class flights this year :D)

there shoud be no problem for her to exit the wing via the door thats used by those that check-in downstairs as it's all still landside and then go down to the check in desk level then outside and back the way she came. She needs to take her passport and BP with her though!

Of course she's missing out on valuable cocktail drinking time. But hey smokers are weird.

You cant smoke anywhere in the DTCI area. My partner likes a last cigarette as well, so we've checked in at DTCI then she goes out through the UC door back downstairs and out of the terminal to the smoking area, then back up the same way through security and joins me in the CH. (cant see the appeal myself). She did say once why don't we just get dropped kerbside, then she can smoke and we can go up in the lift and through security together. >-( That nearly brought on the arguments ! :D :D :D

Obviously gives me extra CH time alone ! :)

Thank you all for the replies. It’ll be first time in UC for both kids (eldest doesn’t smoke) & I think it’ll ruin the whole UC experience if we have to worry about weaving our way up hill & down dale just to get back outside for her to have that last ciggy. I may just have to tell her one of those acceptable Mum white lies & say it’s not possible to smoke at the airport. She’s only 18 so she won’t be able to drink when we get to New York, so yes, she should make the most of the cocktails in the club house. It’s good to know that the possibility to smoke is there though. If she’s tearing her hair out on our way from Brighton to Heathrow I may ‘suddenly remember’ that there ‘might’ be a way of her getting back outside ...
I know, I’m going to hell!
And yes mitchja, it’s shocking just how much money you save when you give up. Makes you wonder how you ever afforded it in the first place.
Thanks again :-)

ooo another v-flyer whose in Brighton

Am sure there is a service station on the M23 she can use for the last fag!

And they have some pretty strict no smoking rules as well. Stricter than here in some cases. No smoking in public parks for example.
