Can someone else upgrade my PE redemption for me using miles

Hi, I have a PE redemption ticket to NYC. Is it possible for another family member to use their miles to upgrade the ticket to UC?

Yep that's allowed. I've upgraded a friend's cash ticket using my miles in the past. I'd recommend having you both on the phone call when you do it though in case the agent needs to verify

I was told someone else could upgrade me on a paid ticket but not a reward flight. They said that was two people using miles to purchase a reward ticket and that it is not allowed to combine miles as only red
