Upgrading with points once booked

Hi, I am looking to book to go to Barbados for some winter sun. I can get upper going out using miles, but only premium coming back. If I book them and a return upper becomes available on either that flight or another a few days later can I change it?

Yes, as reward flights are changeable for a fee - about £30 or so.
