I suppose it was a question of timing and appropriateness given current circumstances. In an ideal world, I suspect VS may have (or I hope at least) laid on a pleasure flight for an hour or two given interest in 747's and the role the 747 has played since day one. Something like that with proceeds going to charity would have gone down well.
One advantage of doing it at LHR is that it's in their own hangar which they don't have a MAN, so it's easier to lay something on like this within an environment they can control better.
I agree it's a shame given current restrictions for us Tier 3 residents. I certainly would have tried to do it if it wasn't for that and the fact it's almost Christmas (as I would have had to factor in travel to/from London on top of the ticket price), but alas not. What I do have though is memories of flying onboard various -200's and -400's over a 19 year period.
