Fingers crossed you'll be fine! It was very frustrating but the cost they must have had to shell out with rebooking everyone, transportation, food vouchers, hotels, compensation etc. tells me it really is the worst case scenario for them, too. Hopefully they'll have a better contingency plan for crew if anything like this happens again. Have a good flight when it rolls around!

Wow someone dropped a ball that will be interesting to see how full Wednesday’s flight will be.

This is pure rumour, but I spoke to someone this morning who said they overheard staff saying the pilot called in sick at 3am, and the standby pilot didn't answer their phone.

So sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. On flights longer than 10 hours they have to have a 2nd officer so I suspect that was the issue.

Yes, which has the knock on effect that the return flight is also cancelled, as my family members just found out! They were due to fly back this week but have had it rebooked. I really hope this isn't a sign of a significant problem with the route.

Also looks like the VS85/VS86 will be cancelled again this coming Wednesday (31st July) as well.

Both Flightaware and the VS website show it as canceled already on Wednesday 31st July.

What the hell are they playing at is it crewing , covid or are they just not wanting to run empty planes. I almost booked this flight in the sale glad I held off.

Virgin doing the press rounds of the north claiming they are ‘committed to the route from our home in the north’ after 10 days of cancellations. Not that anyone would believe that after the clubhouse debacle.
I’ll be amazed if this route remains next year. The A350-1000 is just too big, the USA has become eye wateringly expensive to visit and the fares are very high.
All point to a short lived life for this route I’m afraid.

Actually completely opposite the case - loads are very good - and high fares usually bode well for a route!

LAS will return on 29 Apr next year, a month earlier than this year.

The A350 in that config is 397 seats I’m sure they can fill upper and premium but that a lot of economy seats to fill. I also think three has been IFE issues with some A350’s. I also think VS don’t market new routes very well from MAN when was the last time you saw then do a pop up or a press conference I don’t think I have ever seen Sir Richard in MAN.

SRB was on the inaugural MAN-LAS a few months ago ;-)

As it’s a seasonal route they probably won’t use a Neo on the service. But I think the A350 is too big for the demand.
They need a smaller aircraft like Neo , 260-280 seats.

However I wouldn’t say the route would be cancelled. I was on a Tampa flight when it was first released and only 63 pax outbound and 117 pax inbound. Now , TPA route is proving popular

Agreed, the A350 is probably the wrong aircraft for the route - however they can't use the A333 as no crew bunks.

Given the premium cabins are filling very well, this should hopefully do well on the A339.

Some of you are forgetting that VS used to use 747s on this route and when there was more than one airline operating MAN-LAS. I accept that a decade or so ago VS were a bit more rigid with where they deployed aircraft and Airbuses didn’t start appearing at MAN regularly until one of the MCO flights from MAN and LGW went over to A330 ops in 2011. I also have no recollection of loadings.
