Hi,

We were due to fly back to LHR from LAS in Premium on VS156 on 22nd Jan, but got a text to say it was cancelled (no reason given though I later found out that the outgoing VS155 had been cancelled). They rebooked us on BA0274 in WT+, which we were pretty happy with as the scheduled departure time was only 10 minutes later, although we ended up being stuck in the middle two seats of the four centre seats on an A350 which wasn't the best and we disembarked into the T5 satellite terminal and had to get across to T3 which was a bit of a pain.

Anyway, before I go to Virgin about it, can anyone advise whether I should still expect Virgin to credit me with the 50 tier points each that we should have earned? Without them we won't renew Silver at the next anniversary without booking another flight (which isn't in our plans for this year).

Many Thanks

Ian

They should still credit.

When they cancelled our LHR-BOS last year, they put us on a Delta flight, and we actually accrued the points as we would for a cash booking (it was a rewards booking) with the 30% extra too… and the TP
So I am presuming they will credit the TP as normal, but if not within 72 hours, call them or live chat.

As per the T&C's

3.5. Cancelled Flights or Involuntary Transfers

If you are transferred to another VAA flight or Participating Company airline flight, which differs from the original issued ticket, the Virgin Points earned on the resulting flight will be credited to your account. However, if you are involuntarily transferred to a non-Participating Company airline, you may request Virgin Points for your original VAA booking. In this case you will be required to send in a cover letter to outline the original flight details, along with a copy of your original boarding pass and new ticket details, to the VAA Customer Centre. Please note that Virgin Points shall not be awarded where either (i) you voluntarily transfer to a non-Participating Company airline; or (ii) you are transferred to a non-Participating Company airline in circumstances where your original VAA flight is cancelled due to natural disasters/disruption, weather, fire, strikes, war, civil unrest, closed airports, acts of terrorism or any other reason beyond VAA’s reasonable control.

So you will need to write to them requesting the miles & tier points they won't credit automatically, they would have if you'd flown partner airline (eg Delta)
