We got caught up in the Heathrow fire and had to stay an extra three days in St Lucia. Virgin have been excellent and refunded our hotel, taxi fare from Gatwick and extra pet care.
Just wondering if we should get a refund of points as we were originally scheduled to fly back UC but came back BA economy?
Thanks

You should send customer care an email.

As you were downgraded from UC/Business to Economy you should receive the difference in points (between VS Eco and UC) and difference in taxes.
Don’t think you will receive a full refund, but you should get the difference between Eco and UC.

Thanks, Yes I’ve emailed them, got a response refund on the extra spend but had nothing re points. Re emailed and now waiting again, but I agree it should be the difference between economy and UC. Thanks

@craig1912. Out of interest I wonder if this actually applies to your case.

Regulation 261/2004 Article 10 (2c)Upgrading and downgrading

2. If an operating air carrier places a passenger in a class lower than that for which the ticket was purchased, it shall within seven days, by the means provided for in Article 7(3), reimburse:

(a) 30 % of the price of the ticket for all flights of 1500 kilometres or less, or
(b) 50 % of the price of the ticket for all intra-Community flights of more than 1500 kilometres, except flights between the European territory of the Member States and the French overseas departments, and for all other flights between 1500 and 3500 kilometres, or
(c) 75 % of the price of the ticket for all flights not falling under (a) or (b), including flights between the European territory of the Member States and the French overseas departments.

So for the downgrade, it would seem you are entitled to 75% of your FC points for that leg being refunded.
VS would obviously prefer to just reimburse the difference between the points for the cabins. Regulations are also clear that FF programmes are covered, as the points have a value just like a cash fare.

There was an old post on the subject of ‘EU 261 Downgrade of Reward Flight’ back in January 2018 which my family referred to recently. The forum members were so very helpful & informative back then.
