So I have a booking dilemma to deal with for our return next year.

We will be in Orlando and want to fly home to MAN on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd September. Reward seats at decent prices are in short supply, and having done some dummy bookings we are highly unlikely to get anything direct home in PE on those days ( here are 5 of us).

The current situation that we have is that I could book EC direct from MCO for 39k which I would feel somewhat robbed of my points, but is the simpler option, or PE from JFK for the same points. My Daughter wants to do JFK for the better seats which feels like better use of my points but I'm honestly not sure these days if there is any advantage to flying home PE, particularly when you have to get a connection. Our last few flights home from MCO we have been in either PE or UC and have been told that EC is 'virtually empty', which suggests to me that there is probably more space to relax in EC than there is in PE.

I was also sort of holding out for the idea that closer to the time some decently priced UC seats may become available from MCO which I could then switch to, but this is maybe a pipe dream? Possibly there is more chance of this from JFK but MCO has 2 flights and JFK only 1.

What would you do in the situation - MCO direct EC or via JFK PE? Thanks

Hello!!

How many points do you have?
ATL-MAN Weds 2nd Sept is 51k points in Upper class. Short flight from Orlando.

I’ve never flown anything but UC, but for comfort, By the time you do MCO to JFK and then connection time (at least 2 hours for JFK), I’d prefer just Economy in MCO. As JFK is a shorter flight in itself.
If you are looking to book, even though it’s more expensive in fees, book one way tickets. Because then if Orlando drop in price, you can easily switch without having to re price the inbound.

Virgin also normally have many MCO-ATL main cabin point seats. Which is good as you can cancel for free just in case MCO direct becomes available

Same, was also about to bring attention to that ATL flight. I would book that now.

To answer your original question, no, I would not fly to JFK to then get PE.

Thanks everyone. Not sure how I missed those ATL flights!

Just got them on hold whilst I scramble around to fill the small shortfall that I have!

Hope you get it sorted! But glad you’ve got them on hold!

Hi folks

I just wanted to update that I bagged those flights - bit of a scramble to make up the points but I managed it and am now totally wiped out!

Thanks for the help.
