Booking AF flights to Africa with VS?

Hey all - struggling to book some xmas flights to Cotonou, West Africa, which only AF serves, darn it!

Have a lot of miles (about 1m+ if I make transfers) but it seems nothing shows up at all when you enter that destination in VS website or App - miles or cash! Is it simply a case of calling and trying my luck - or is there a hack somehow?

SeatSpy or Seats.Aero any use in this, maybe?

Am Au lifer, fwiw.

I do not know the area at all, but to cover off basics, could you not fly to Lagos and drive?

I had the same thought over many years, and have been repeatedly advised:

"NO - don't even consider doing it"

Apparently even with a local driver, and the short distance (100miles!) its absolutely not worth it.

All very sad as direct US>Lagos flights are pretty easy to find.
AF have this route locked down for themselves, it seems.
