VS Starlink WiFi availability

Sounds like VS are working pretty quickly to roll out Starlink WiFi starting with the A350's as according to various online posts at least 3 aircraft have already been upgraded with the rest of the A350's following over the next couple of weeks. The B789's are next followed by the A339's.

There’s 8 A350’s completed so far apparently so need to find out which 2 others are done.

All A350’s to be done by the end of June and then all B789’s done by the end of this year apparently.

They’ll all be done by Sunday this week.

Okay, thats good enough next MCO flight for us (assuming a 350 or 789) will be on VS not BA.

Well done Virgin. Starlink is such a gamechanger it rules the rubbish old Satellite broadband out from being usabel (the old systems basically had such huge deadspots as they moved satellite mid-flight it was unreliable for work related stuff).

Please now just fix the food and I won't grumble anymore.

Can I just say that Virgin's social media game is somewhat lacking, their last public visible post is 3 months ago. When you go on the VS website there's no splash to say free Starlink is available, instead you have to go looking for it in the in-flight experience sub-headings.

They should be shouting this out, it's a proper game changer.

I would guess until more A/C get upgraded, VS are just doing this as a soft launch. Currently there's less than a third of the fleet that have it so far.

Hopefully VS will soon move onto the B789's.

VS also have to wait until all aircraft types get fully certified for starlink as so far not all aircraft types are. Looking at this list, the Airbus A330 series still doesn't have EASA certification yet.

However BA shouting out same and have (apaprently) 1 aircraft done so far. And rest is well behind Virgin.

I agree this should be shouted out as if you flying on a Leisure route (ie A350) you can near guarantee it, ditto out of Man. Gamechanger for business flights to US via ATL from MAN.

So a quick user guide as I sit here on VS73 somewhere above the Gulf of St Lawrence.

My phone found it difficult to connect, my boys phones were rather simple. There are no connection instructions onboard. However I eventually found the best way to connect is:

Click on Virgin Atlantic Wifi in the wifi settings
Hopefully the log-in screen appears (it didn't on mine)
If not, go to a web browser and type in "onboard . virginatlantic . com" (remove the spaces between the words)
If that doesn't load, put a https:/ before
You'll need your Flying Club number and password
It'll then send you an email with a code so make sure your Flying Club email address is accessible from your device.

So if you have a Starlink enabled plane the wifi is actually free now ? It has been almost 4 years since my last flight so not up on the goings on with the planes of late.

Yes, however, as per the post above you do need a Flying club account though to be able use log-in to use StarLink WiFi.

WiFi is still chargeable on all other VS aircraft.

Landed at about 16:12, was at gate by 16:20. Jet-bridge took a while to dock onto L1 but was in bag reclaim by 16:33. Had my bag within about 25mins. MAN had cocked-up the loading order of the priority container(s). Was in rental car within an hour of landing after a very brief pause at GE immigration to link new photo & fingerprints to my new passport. I did drive through a few extremely heavy showers on the SR528 heading to I-Drive, but nothing since that. As we all know the rain in Florida can be extremely localised.

Back to Starlink - it worked all the way to the gate until the engines were turned off. Am guessing the switch to ground-power spooked the connection briefly.
