Hi,

Planning a trip from London to LAX next year. Obviously a choice of 2 flights with Virgin. VS007 and VS023. Looking at the "What Aircraft" section of the site I would recon that VS007 will be a 747-400 and VS023 will be a A340-300.

If I am flying PE, I assume VS007 would be the better option as it has the option of sitting upstairs? If flying economy, what is the better flight, VS007 again as it is more likely to have V:port? What do you seasoned Virgin travelers think??

Any help appreciated

Great website by the way, just found it this week and already helped me a lot.

No contest - VS007 wins hands down. The only time I took VS023 was when work commitments meant I needed a later flight. Often this meant taking the VS024 on the return leg as it was difficult to do a full days work and get to LAX by 5.

Take the 7. It even gets into LAX at a reasonable time.

Hi GreboDB - welcome to V-flyer :)

You are correct that VS7/VS8 is a 747-400, and VS23/VS24 is a A340-300.

I have just come back from LAX yesterday in Y class (VS23 out, VS8 back)

I chose VS23 on the way out, as I havent had a 343 trip for a few years, and was missing it!

If the VS23 is delayed (which mine was) then the flight could be 100% in nighttime (depending on the date of your flight) - not good if you like looking out the window!

VS23 will also have either Arcadia/Odyssey IFE, whilst VS7 will have odyssey/V:Port

I've never travelled in PE, however other posts indicate the 744, esp on the top deck is much prefered.

IFE aside I prefer the A343 in Y class to the 744 (because of the 2-4-2 seat layout), however with a daylight flight, better IFE, and if travelling in PE, a much better experience, I'd suggest the VS7 if possible.

Hope this helps.

Please ask away if you need anymore info!

Rich.

I would take VS007 + you get good view's of the GC and Hoover dam or vegas on a clear day.

Cheers

Very similar dilema to what I have.

The only thing with us is there are six of us flying - three couples, so the 2-4-2 seating of the A343 would be prefered.
