ROTFL

Hmmm...it's a cool idea, but I wonder if I can save some money by hiring a few rocket scientists, building a rocket and doing it from my back garden [:p], rather than going on all those VS flights [B)].

Great idea!!
Wonder if it'll work the other way too. Wonder how many miles that'll earn you buy a flight on Galactic?

Not sure at my present earning/spending I'll ever be able to retain 2 million miles. That would be 25 free UC flights I would be turning down. Most i've ever manage to hold onto is about 250k.. [:0]

There's an interesting bit in the T&C's from the VS web site, though and I quote:

Only miles earned on Virgin Atlantic Airways flights may be used to redeem for Virgin Galactic flights

That's some flying needed them..... [:0]

What about the x-thousand (10<x<50) miles available for a voluntary bump that sometimes get offered at JFK? Can they be used for Virgin Galactic? Only 40 x50k bumps needed (assuming you can use those miles).

Otherwise it has to be about 148 Gold J-class returns to JFK. At least VS miles don't expire, so there might be some hope of getting there if you keep flying.

My personal miles high water mark was 500,000, achieved via multiple flights on triple or +20k miles promos, a bump or two, some limo problems. Sadly, I've now blown that on taking the family (including my parents) to the US next year.

Interesting that the 21st birthday statistics reported that there are currently 58 miles millionaires. I wonder how many of those have more than, or close to, 2 million. It wouldn't surprise me if there are a handful of flying club members over the 2m already.
