Grenade found on Qantas flight

Not charged, and apparently inert - but no explanation as to why he had it with him! [:?]

MAN was taken into custody by Australian Federal Police after he declared he had a hand grenade when he arrived on a flight from the US.
The Sydney man, 18, brought the grenade on a Qantas flight from Los Angeles last week in his checked luggage.

A section of Sydney airport was evacuated and closed for over five hours on Thursday morning after the man declared he had the grenade.

The NSW police bomb squad and AFP were called in to search for the grenade which was later found aboard the aircraft.

Still trying to figure out when flying UC what having a little piece of gold plastic makes you different than having a little piece of red plastic..read that carefull,no flaming allowed...were they red paper pillows...

Seriously though,domestic first sucks,except for the little more seat pitch and the UA prem flights between the coasts it's gone to hell.

What I would like to know if how the outbound security team allowed a grenade shapped metal onbject onto an aircraft!

Southwest flys Oakland to Midway
