Checking spend amount

Hi there,

I have the White AmEx and did have the mastercard prior to this. Who are the best people to speak to to check my spend amount? I want to check where I am in respect to Premium upgrade and Companion ticket. As I "upgraded" my card to white AmEx, I think the original spend requirements exist, is this true and can you get multiple Premium upgrades in a year?

Also, if I have reached a limit do I need to wait until the anniversary or is it possible to get the reward before?

If you had already reached the companion threshold with your old FC Mastercard, you would have had the Companion voucher credited on 23rd August. If not, your account will be sweeped at your anniversary date and if you have reached the threshold you will then get your companion voucher - well, thats the theory anyway.

Short of calling MBNA, it might be easier to check your statements and add them up since your last companion voucher (or from when you first got the Mastercard if you had it less than a year) to see if you reached the threshold. IIRC, it is £15k for the White AmEx, but reduced to £7.5k for the Black AmEx. Your expenditure prior to the change will be taken into consideration - a major balls-up for those of us with the Black AmEx who feel they should have had two vouchers to compensate [}:)]

You could call their helpline, but that seems to be an oxymoron at present as MBNA seem to be bogged down with lots of lost miles.

With the Mastercard, you couldn't get your voucher before the anniversary date, even if you had already spent over the threshold (well ... one person managed it ) so i would assume the same rules apply.

As for the Premium upgrades, its two a year.

Yes, they tell you by entering a line on your FC Statement, mine reads VAA Credit Card Companion Flight Qualification. As Sarah mentions above, for anyone who had already reached the spend threshold when they still had the Mastercard then the voucher was added to FC statements on 23/8.

Just checked my account today - I seem to be doing this a lot as I want to make sure I get every mile I'm entitled too. It's complicated by the fact that I had both the non fee and the fee paying MC and now one white and one black Amex.

Today it states 29 Aug VAA credit card companion flight qualification - not sure if this is because I had already spent enough on the MC, or perhaps I've already reached the level for qualification with the Amex. Definitely not an anniversary date so maybe I just spend too much!

Locutus of Borg, As James says, you should see it appear in your FC account, but MBNA will also send you a letter through the post to advise you that you have qualified.

Jilly, If its not your anniversary date, it will because you already qualified with the Mastercard, most likely on the 2 miles/£1 card, as the threshold had been decreased considerably, making the Companion Voucher a lot easier to attain.

Looks like FC are soon going to be inundated with people trying to use Companion vouchers

Whats going on?................

Just logged into my FC account and now find that not only do I have a companion voucher dated 23rd August,[y] but now I also have ANOTHER 2 vouchers dated 29th August[?]

I have the Black VAA Amex card upped from the old MCard

Anyone else in the same boat or able to shed some light ?
