Hey guys i have a little dilemma and would appreciate your thoughts......[i]

For my forthocming trip to Jamaica i have two choices:

1.Book Virgin and fly both ways in econ
OR

2.Portland Direct and fly Thomsons Premium Econ both ways

Both at same price!.

3.Or fly o/b in P/E with Virgin and back in econ for an extra £450.00

What would you do?[:?]

Firstly for point 3. I would do it the other way if possible, o/b Econ and return P/E as the return is a night flight and you probably stand more chance of getting some sleep in P/E.

Another point to consider is whether or not you want Tier Points & Miles from a VS flight.

Virgin PE both ways!! Ok I know that wasn't an option but its what I would do. I would avoid Thomsonfly, we are booked with them for Jamaica in Feb and Ive heard lots of horror stories!!

If you can only afford PE one way, then def do PE outbound, you get to benefit the extras more on the OB as you are awake, all of my PE journeys, the inbound service felt rushed and not as special.

Its your choice, but when i had the same dilema last year the advice from this site was to push the boat on and do PE both ways, and I am soo glad i did, won't fly Y again!

Speaking to a lot of cabin crew how fly thomsonfly they say their premium cabin is very good and the crew ratio I believe can sometimes be higher with Thomson (but this can vary)

They offer all the same facilities including twilight check-in and premium check-in at LGW.

Bottom line you want to fly as comfortably as possible. If you have no real aim to earn miles this trip and the price is the first option then choose Thomson because going PE only one way will be nice but you still have either the Y trip to start off your holiday or the thought of it to finish the holiday off.

personally i would go PE both ways! but if you really have to do it i would go thomson on the o/b and virgin P.E back as you get the bigger seats on the way back plus miles!

As this topic has quite randomly been brought back to discussion, I thought I would just point out this thread, which shows Thomson are impriving their long haul cabins, food for thought.
