Emirates business class flat bed

Has anyone been lucky enough to fly on the new 777 ER Business Class flat Bed with Emirates yet?

I am off to Dubai in December flying from Manchester with emirates and I am keeping my Arms, Legs, Toes, Fingers and eyes crossed in the hope of getting a flight with the new seat. Apparently by December 7 777/300 ER aircraft will have the new lie flat bed in Business.

Not Sure but I think if you look closer it appears to have some sort of wedge over the top half of the seat. Maybe this is done for photographic reasons? If it is a wedge then maybe the peoples face would have been hidden by the side of the seat shell if they were flat with the profile of the be.

I am only guessing this to be the reason it would be greater to find out of someone who has flown in the seat.

Its a 'lie flat' seat... ie at 12degrees to horizontal... though thats only 9degrees inflight.
I've flown on the same seat (same manufacturer different airline) and it has all the usual problems of a 'lie flat' seat.
Don't wear silk boxers with leather jeans unless you like your 'neathers' being wedged to death

Which airline was it that you flew with? I thought this seat was designed specifically for emirates?
And Ben who wears SILK BOXERS these days?[:p]

The seat is designed by a BE Aerospace division called Contour (used to be called Britax).
Its basically the same seat as can be found on Air France, Cathay Pacific, ANA and many other carriers.
Emirates take the basic design and get it tweaked.. keeping costs down.

A couple of airlines (BA and VS for two) asked this company to create totally bespoke products and patent them against copies. This is a much more expensive way of getting new seats but the results are a bit more spectacular.

As for leather jeans... as a staff passenger I have to stick to a 'no jeans' dress code when I travel... so this was the experience of 'a friend'.

As for the Silk underwear... well one has to have SOME excitement when being forced to wear 'Slacks and a Collared Shirt' when flying longhaul! [:I]

Nice one Cheers Ben. But i think i will pass the silk boxer experiance and look for excitment n the I.E.F[8D]

Even the UCS isn't unique - Air New Zealand (ANZ) use it to.

VS licensed the UCS product to ANZ, probably at a cost to ANZ no doubt. VS hold all the patents for the UCS product.
