More amex bashing I'm afraid.....
In the letter from amex inviting me to change to the amex cc , it states that the amex fee of £115 will be due 'on my next anniversary'. The brochure that was enclosed with the letter states, in a comparison table, that the fee is due 'on the anniversary of the NEW card' (my capitals). Seems pretty clear to me that the £115 will be due next July, and that there will be no fee for this year as a perk of changing cards.
Called Amex, and after 30 mins spoke to a supervisor who rudely told me that I should pay now for their 'service' and that if I disagreed I should send the brochure in, and they don't keep copies of their own brochures, and they will then 'consider my request'!
Out of interest, do you agree with my interpretation? If I can be bothered to write to amex I will let you know how it goes - if I am successful as I see it they should refund all the fees that they have charged everyone this year!
