Codicote isn't that bad! There is a (very small) close named after my Grandad there!

VS just changed their card, so I doubt they will do so again soon.

On that note, does anyone actually know why VS jumped into bed with AMEX and fell out with MC - or is that a stupid question :)

I crossed over to the amex recently (after swearing not to!) and sadly it's almost useless in NI so I use it for my online shopping as most websites will take it. For everything else I use my BMI card.

Kind of a stupid question as there are references above ;)

By moving to the AmEx platform allows more rewards, as yes retailers do get charged a higher fee (not obscenely higher though) but this enable more to be passed back to the customer (if the issuer so chooses) in the forms of greater cashback, more miles etc.

Thanks,
Richard

Personally, since the initial changeover hiccups, I have been very happy with the VS Amex. I have just seen my annual fee appear on my statement and think it is money VERY well spent, for the extra miles it provides. ;)[8D]

To combat the frustration of the places that don't take Amex, we have swapped our 'back up' card to the Hilton Plat card, it is a fee free Mastercard and there is a first use bonus of 5K HH points. [8D]:D

Yep, I've seen him use it in McDonalds

:D - I earned my 4 FC points for that transaction.
But lost 80 from his "style & credibility points" bank at the same time. [ii][:(]

Deary me I must be about minus a million then coz McDonalds does really good coffee these days and at £1.19 for a great cup of coffee its the only place to go when out and about ( providing I cant find a Starbucks nearby of course!!)

Keep them arches golden Richard - Im with ya!

Umm - Mark, you might have missed the point a little...

McDonalds is the world to me, and a faithful few. Unfortunately, pulling out an AMEX card to pay for breakfast in one is like bringing a portrait of the devil to church. Despicable...

Using an Amex card is fine. For a $1.86 COfFEE - is WRONG...

(Especially on a road-trip of 4 fine fast food establishments of the south western states... [:w])

Alright, I am not losing street cred for drinking McCoffee. Never ever had a coffee from there. I had a Sausage McMuffin, and Lady S had a McGriddle and a drink - total was just over $4 if I recall.

That is just me, I use my card quite a lot as I rarely carry/use cash; actually in a typical week I only use cash at work for lunch as we haven't implented the charging system back to our smartcards yet.

But then I didn't eat at the next 'fine' restaurant when we stopped off a mere hour later [}:)]

Thanks,
Richard

I saw someone at AKL in WDW pay for a newspaper with a credit card!!

So come on - whats the lowest value you have ever charged to your card? - I once used it for car parking in Guildford and it was 73p!!

1p. There was an AmEx offer on a while ago that for every transaction at certain stores you got x bonus miles. So I bought 20 Amazon eVOuchers at £5 each (to rack up maximum bonus) and then used one of them to pay for a £5.01 order. :)

Thanks,
Richard

Cant beat that, but definately under a quid!

I never carry cash, i actually have more USD in my wallet than GBP. I was in London today on business and went to three places to get a coffee and sandwich - and NONE of them took cards! Drives me mad! I could go to a dealership and buy a car on my credit cards, but i cant get a Cafe Nero for love nor credit! :)

Thanks,
Sarah
