Hi all,

Please note that if you (like I) intended to convert your Tesco Clubcard points into the "4 X the value" Virgin Holiday vouchers then please be aware that they are NOT valid with any other offer.

You cannot use them with the online booking discount (as you must book by phone) and even worse - if you are a "Frequent Virgin" or FC member entitled to 10% off then you lose this too if you want to use Tesco vouchers.

So, book a simple V Hol at say, 2 grand and have £200 off with your FC membership or use your (in my case £180) of hard earned Clubcard deals... Take your pick.

Not pleased.

Hi John

I sympathise. Although I'm not a great airmiles fan I now have my Tesco points converted through to Airmiles and then use them periodically for connecting flights from MAN or the occasional short break, purely because the deals didn't offer great value over other readily available discounts.

The only time I really benefitted was when I had their platinum credit card (before I turned into a FC miles tart) and spending on that (including double miles for spend at Tesco) netted me £960 off a £3K holiday to Florida - in just over eighteen months.

I'd spend the miles on something else rather than holiday vouchers, which will always be netted off the full retail price (but I wouldn't go for the Virgin Trains vouchers if I were you;);):)).

Regards

What's the ratio, Pat, 1 for 1?

John - thanks for the practicality of the warning. I have to admit I've always view those vouchers with some suspicion as they are often surrounded by caveats that limit their usefulness. Our Tesco points just go back into the coffers from which they came, usual somewhere down the wine aisle.

ISTBC but my understanding is that they're not valid on 'megadeals' either (all there in the nasty small print along with the other exclusions like using with FC/FVC discounts).Mine like pjh's get spent in the wine aisle....Maybe I should start looking at the air miles deals again?

(in my case £180) of hard earned Clubcard deals...

You haven't been trying hard enough:D

Get them converted into BA miles £2.50 Tesco voucher is either 600 or 800 BA miles depending if you had the old Tesco premier club card or not.Failing that if you need a new watch the Goldsmith's vouchers look tempting £1 Tesco = £4 Goldsmiths.

Absoloutly. Great deal. 50k miles (enough for a trip across the pond) for less than £70 of vouchers. As far as I am aware there are no additional restrictions - they are treated the same as normal miles.

I found the best usage of Tesco vouchers is with Purple Parking in Heathrow. One week parking on Park and Ride basis is about 34-40 pounds, ten pounds voucher should cover everything. As long as you leave two weeks to arrange it, it's good value for this purpose.

The ride sometimes take up to 40 minutes (Friday night or Saturday market day), otherwise is straight forward 15 minutes journey.

Used twice in November for holidays with VS flights to Dubai and New York, they pick us up within 5 minutes when we returned to Heathrow.

50k BA miles would cost you either £156.25 in vouchers at 800 rate or £208.33 at 600 transfer rate.

They convert as normal BA miles ie £468.75 tesco vouchers(at the higher transfer rate) + an amex 241 voucher = 2xBA First class flights to USA[y]

Happy ending here as I returned my VH vouchers citing that they were no use to me as a "Frequent Virgin". I got them converted to 8400 BA miles instead without a hitch.
