Just reading THIS article, it looks very nice.

I have not heard much about jet, however a friend of mine was just hired as their head pilot so I should be able to get some gossip (and free flights [:w]) in time.

I read somewhere they are planning to start flights out of SFO..anyone heard anything about that [?]

Jet Airways have been trying to get into the US for a while. Someone (I forget who) has stopped it so far by laying down some rumours that Jet are assosiated in someway to a terrorist organisation. For this reason their requests to fly into the US have been blocked.

I have flown them twice. And the service has been very good. Extremely good in fact and the owner, accorinding to locals in India anyway, is India's answer to SRB. This type of move is kind of agreeing with that.

And for GJ, the Amenity Kit is pretty good - Bulgari branded mini bag of goodies and a seperate pouch for your socks and eye shades.

They are currently flying A330s to London.

The problem with Jet was to do with terrorism then some silly person in Delaware or somewhere owned a company called Jet Airlines or something and complained and thus Jet Airways were stopped. This has now been resolved.

SFO direct late this year. The BOM-NYC will go direct by end of Summer, I think its going via somewhere like BRU at the moment.

They will be a massive airline.

Mostly 343s to London, indeed as I was leaving LHR the night before last on the VS400 there were two Jet 343s parked up.

Yes they are pretty good up front and average+ up back.

Good for them if they get to fly to the US.

343's are leaving the fleet (going back to South African) to be replaced by brand new 777s on all routes from LHR except Amristar (sp?) which is staying as a brand new 330.

Well Jet flies to ATQ in northern India which DLRoger sure likes. Only if they could offer a IAD-ATQ......

Jet have announced today that they are to make BRU the DXB of Europe. They will operate all US bound flights via BRU.

This will allow 9W to offer one stop flights from India to the US- the attraction is the ability to offer services from smaller Indian airports that wouldnt normally get a one stop to the US.

Now if I can get their darn site to work (for me it is nearly as bad as VS's) I will look to see if they fly to South Africa...

Was going to PM this but o well..

No flights to RSA for 9W at the moment. They are mainly domesitc India but do have routes to BKK, KUL, CMB, DXB (?), HKG (?) and will be off to PVG and then onwards to SFO. With more and more 330's/738's coming online they will expand regional services.

BUT the good news is 9W are doing a codeshare with SN- this will allow AMericans a much easier (and better) one stop into Africa than BA/AF/KLM at LHR/CDG/AMS. Sadly SN dont serve RSA either!! Although SN's African network is bloody impressive.

SN (SABENA) used to fly to Jo'burg in the good old days - I flew from BRU to JNB in about 2000.
