Platinum Amex Insurance

Quick Q about amex travel insurance, sorry if its been asked before, a search brought nothing up.

With teh Amex Platinum travel insurance that comes as part of teh deal with the card, do you have to book your travel on the platinum card to be insured? I always thought that the insurance for ALL travel came as part of the membership fee, but I just wanted to check. [?]

ALL travel is covered. Some of the extras are only available if booked on the card...
