Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with the Diamond Air Lounge at Terminal 3 Heathrow?

We've flying from Auckland (via HK) into Heathrow and then onto Newcastle later in the afternoon and I'm thinking a shower might be in order after a 26hrs travelling [:I]

It's quite pricey at £35 pp. Just wondering whether it's worth it. I know I don't have to pay £35 for a shower, but I'm very fussy and I'm hoping the fact that I'd be paying £35 for a shower would mean I'd have a stray hair, shower scum free experience.

Relatively new lounge, and I've not seen any reviews on it.

Even Google can't come up with the goods. It's very new, only opened in January.

Looks like you'll be the V-Flyer guinea pig! Let us know if you try it out!

Hi,

Just a quickie review of the Diamond Air Lounge at LHR.

We'd made a reservation using the online form and this was followed with a telephone call from Diamond Air confirming our details.

On arrival, the girl on the desk didn't have any details of our reservation, but this didn't concern me too much as the place looked empty and sure enough she said we could go through while she tried to find our details.

We were not shown around and had to ask where to find the shower facilities. The first shower room I tried had towels which were of very poor quality and a little damp, even though they were folded. I changed rooms but the towels were still substandard, although dry.

I found the facilities quite basic but adequate. The cleanliness was not of a high standard though. I think the best way to describe it is like a 3 star hotel/travel lodge.

After freshening up, we headed to the bar for drinks and a snack. There's a good choice of both drinks and food ranging from snadwiches to pasta dishes. There's the bar and restaurant area and also a quite lounge next to an office area with about 6 PCs.

We paid £35 each and even though it's a basic facility, I do think it's worth it if you want to take advantage of the showers and have a 2/3 hrs to kill drinking G&T's.

Unless I'd set out to be a "3 star travel lodge", if I was the manager of that facility and read your report, I'd be cringeing!

Making sure there's dry, clean towels, with a decent sized bathsheet, in a clean and tidy bathroom can't take a lot of doing, and if it's one of the main areas of your service, there's plenty of reasons to make sure you do it right.

The towels really were poor [V]

The first room I went into, I'm sure the towels had been used but just folded up again because they were damp. They were thin and of poor quality...made me think they'd got a job lot of old hotel towels on the cheap.

It really isn't a difficult thing to get right. Being a 'clean freak' I do tend to notice things more than most, but at the end of the day, it's not rocket science when it comes to cleaning a bathroom.

Some branded products would have been nice too eg: Molton Brown
