I neeed to be at Regents Park first thing on Tuesday for a conference so I'm looking for a London overnighter next Monday (19th) and want to be reasonably central(it would be nice to fit in a bit of shopping).Does anyone have any recommendations for something halfway decent that's not going to break the bank, as the hotel list the conference organisers have sent are all full? Basic requirements are safety (I'll be on my own) and not a complete fleapit. I've looked on the VS website (miles whore/tart -whichever is the correct terminology as it's expensed) and all that they're offering look pretty grim!My benevolent employers don't like lots of cash being squandered, so I'd be grateful for any recommendations.
Thanks

We stayed at the Melia White House earlier this year (review in the reviews section) and it is located right next to Regents Park. It had just been renovated and was quite nice, not top draw by any means but clean, nice modern rooms and bathrooms. We booked via Priceline and got a great rate and then got upgraded when we checked in too, but from what I have seen on various booking sites (cheap London hotels into Google brings up a few good sites) you can get this hotel fairly cheaply. It is also located close to 2 tube lines for access and we walked to Oxford Street in about 10mins.

We stayed in the St Giles in September, no problems and very clean.

Central, yes right next to CentrePoint building.

Good hunting?

Neil, Priceline is beyond me and the other websites were still quoting me near enough £200 a night for the Melia Whitehouse. The EasyHotel formula is my idea of a fleapit (a bit like their airline really- extra for a window and £1 per extra towel? No, not for me I'm afraid). I did look at the St Giles whilst it was on the VS website but had to re-think when it disappeared. I've ended up booking a Thistle hotel via wotif.com.

I have only driven past it, but The Danubius Hotel Regents Park is a 4 star and they are offering rooms for about £120.00 a night. Just a thought.
