If we do see substantial improvements where they are needed, fine. £11 is not a lot compared to the price of the ticket, although I have to say I'm not counting LCLFs here.

However, if and only if these improvements provide real benefit and competitiveness over other airports in the region (eg. FRA, CDG) will the improvements be worthwhile. Having said that, I still don't see why the government isn't paying.

Was an above-inflation rise always on the cards to pay for the improvements or are the various projects over-budget?

Not to much the £11 that's a problem, surely it's the fact that it's yet another £11, on top of the taxes/security charges/surcharges already levied. And who would mind, if any of these charges actually made any visible difference? I hate being milked for the sake of it and with no results...[:(]
