Due to an erratic BA pilot in St Lucia we have 2 free tickets, in Club World, to anywhere on the BA network (but not codeshare/one world alliance). We checked their map and Melbourne/Sydney is probably the furthest they fly (want to get our money's worth after all).
Given the understandable antipathy towards BA on these boards, I am expecting a fair deal of sympathy due to having to fly with BA again

Hi,

For two free CW tickets ,I will swallow my pride and fly BA!! :D

Now where to go- I would prefer the 747-400 ( for the upper deck where it is 2-2) compared to 2-4-2 on the 777 I think.

MEL/SYD is about the furthest you could go on BA mainline and is tempting.

I would consider SIN/ Tokyo, Vancouver ( i think it is a 777 though)

Regards

I'd guess...

"BA JET STRANDED BY AIRPORT MUD - AGAIN
One hundred British Airways' passengers are finally flying home following a two-day delay after their plane got stuck in mud at a Caribbean airport.

The incident to the Boeing 777 aircraft took place as the plane was just turning on to the runway before departing for London from St Lucia's Hewanorra airport on Wednesday night.

The front nose wheel of the Gatwick-bound plane got stuck in a grass area by the runway and after 45 minutes it was decided to return the passengers to the airport terminal.

On 2002 MAY 30, 2002 yet another British Airways Boeing 777 aircraft were stranded on a runway at Antigua's airport after an aircraft got stuck in the tarmac. It was preparing to take the passengers to a second Caribbean island, St Lucia, but became stuck while turning on the runway!

Poetic. You would have thought they would have figured it out by now. They should have used one of their 'pushy, arrogant' stewardess to instruct the mud to harden."

The best I got was a free economy ticket anywhere after ba cancelled the direct Manchester flight from J.F.K. and routed us through London. They did let us in the terraces lounge, which was quite good but not as good as the clubhouse. I was going back to J.F.K. about four weeks later with my family so I asked for space available upgrades instead of the ticket but was told that only I could have that so I used the ticket to fly to Bangkok Not to bad a flight going out but Cumming back we had the two seats at the back of the 747 with no personal TV. My friend couldnÕt see the screen about half a mile down the cabin and my headphone socket didnÕt work. I did get £30.00 of free duty free and business class food out of it (which was no way as good as upper class food) but decided not to push my luck as was already travelling on a free ticket.

Decker - that is exactly it, although the actual story has much more detail......

When it happened the pilot came on the tannoy and mentioned something about "infringing" on the grass. When we finally got offloaded 45 minutes later, it was clear that the "infringement" was a good 50 feet. Got taxis back to the airport terminal (sitting next to an ex-S Clubber), and then waited around for a few hours for the baggage to come off the plane. Had to queue up to talk to BA's one ground crew member and request to be put in a hotel. Give the cabin crew their due, they did their utmost to keep the pax happy and, without them, it would have been a riot.

After 2 days of hanging around the hotel lobby with no communication from BA, we found out from fellow passengers that the flight was going. Got to checkout again, asked about paying for an upgrade and was told that everyone was in the same seats. Through in the departure lounge it was clear that around two thirds of the original pax were no longer on St Lucia and then found out that another plane had left that day. Got on the plane (Club World Cradle, not worth the money) to find that half of our fellow CWs had been upgraded to the First/CW cabin (First Flat bed config, but CW service). My wife abused the cabin crew, then apologised, we explained about the upgrade situation and were eventually moved forward. Of course my wife's seat did not work so they had to move her to a different one. Very comfortable flight and thought the service was good. On arrival in LGW were met by some customer relations bods who didn't know too much, so we filled in the forms and handed them in. Also wrote to BA.
After 3 months we had still heard nothing so I got in touch via the Executive Club and was told that they had no complaint against my name. Resent the letter and got offered the 2 complimentary CW tickets within a week. They have also extended the deadling to 31/12/05. We have the Australian guide books already.
