Applied for and received Virgin credit card and Amex gold about 6 or 7 weeks ago. Spent a (very) nominal amount on the Amex (only wanted it for the miles) and about 7 grand on the Virgin card. Should I have seen some miles hit my account by now?

Providing you have the correct Virgin card. I.E. The vaa one and not one of the other Virgin cards. You will get the points after you have paid off that amount on your statement. You will get them the following month.

My Virgin card 4000 bonus miles hit my FC account a few weeks after my first set of points were transfered (the monthly transfer occurs around the time you receive your statement)

My Amex Gold card 5000 bonus points took about 10 weeks to hit my FC account but the bonus 2000 MR points were rewarded after about 6 weeks. The transfer from MR to my FC account took about another 3 weeks.

Hope this helps

Thanks chaps. My first Virgin statement will be paid next week, so I'll keep an eye out after that. As for my Amex bonus miles, I guess they should be with me any day soon...[^]

When I got my Amex charge card, the 5k bonus miles took ~12 weeks, but the MR transfer I made into FC took like 2 days (see http://www.v-flyer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1172) :)

I think I'd be making my first phone calls to start chasing it around now....

Cheers

You should see how many FC miles you have earnt by looking at the bottom of your Virgin statement.

Both the Virgin card and the Amex card have online account capabilities which are both easy to set up for statement viewing/bill payments etc.

I've found that paying my Virgin Card bill by direct debit means that miles are transferred over as son as the bill is produced, rather than having to wait until the payment is made. The same goes for Amex crediting membership reward points.

Oh the time I spent chasing my points for taking out an AmEx card back in 2000 - lets just say it was months!

Thanks,
Richard
