Can anyone recommend a company to provide Insurance for a holiday in Orlando for 10 days next March ?? I have got a quote from Virgin Holidays and they want £47 each for there standard insurance and even more for the Gold think it was £63 each not sure though.
I have also got a quote through Virgin Insurance (Virgin Money Company) of a total of £68 for both of us. Are there any other companies that a Flying Club card or Virgin Credit Card get you preferential rates. ???

Jason

Not sure about anyone giving preferential rates for Virgin Flyers. The site I check is 'www.thisismoney.com'. If you input your requirements they check various suppliers.

It might be better for you to take out an annual policy if you travel regularly.

£48 is a good deal - I used to pay £52!!
I now get Travel insurance free as part of my firms Health Care. If your Employer offers this its often the cheapest option!

Jonathan,
I've got private healthcare too (BUPA) with my job and didn't even think about asking whether it covered travel (having just taken out a £122 Nationwide annual multi worldwide family policy!!!)

I will enquire!

I've got an Egg annual policy in the last couple of years - £58 if you have an Egg card, which is pretty easy to get if you don't have one :)

I think people tend to get distracted by the medical expenses cover - hence absurd levels like £10million (I think that's absurd even for the USA!). These figures tend to be quite high, but the valuables cover - which is probably more relevant - tends to be lower.

That Costout annual policy has a single article limit of £150 and total limit of £200 for valuables. That's not really high enough to cover a mobile phone and camera, for example. The Egg policy figures are £250 and £500 respectively - still not high enough to cover my laptop, but better than nothing.

My brother got a cheap annual policy (I've forgotten where from), lost his mobile in Thailand and found that was excluded. These are the points worth checking, because a claim for lost valuables is probably about the most likely type of claim you'll make (and hopefully not a £10m medical claim, else you've had a REALLY unlucky trip :D;))

I use AUL it comes out at £69.95 for annual worldwide cover of £39.99 for an Econ Annual worldwide cover. I'm lucky as i get 20% off through my dad who has an insurance brokerage.

Good points - my "valuables" (mobile phone, digicam - maybe laptop, gotta check that one) are covered under my home insurance policy so that's ok. I've had more than my money's worth out of the Costout policy for medical expenses over the last 3 years too :D

BTW, saw a pretty good annual policy from AIG (£1500 individual item limit) on the insurancewide website tonight - £55!

Cheers

Interesting, cheers mcuth. My Egg policy runs out mid December and i'll need a new one to run pretty much straight after.
