Well I can see VS having to make some slack in their LGW schedule or the payouts could drive them into administration in about a week.

In reality though, just how easy is it going to be for pax to claim against the airlines ?

It'll make RyanAir sit up and gulp. Extraordinary circumstances is their stock answer.

My experience of Ryanair is that they pad their routes to an extraordinary degree that it is almost impossible for them to be delayed. If they arrive early, they depart early and if the flight is not too delayed they arrive on time and trumpet it soundly in the cabin.

I can deal with their aggressive marketing inflight but the most annoying thing is the clarion call to say they have arrived on time. Of course they have if they have left 10 minutes early.

Mind you, they could give VS lessons about priority boarding [:w]

I persoanlly dont think anything will change. Simple fact is, all airlines dont like paying out compensation and will do anything to avoid doing so, so they will just use another excuse instead.

The EC 261-2004 pax compensation rights document really isn't worth the paper its written on, unless you are prepared to take matters further using courts etc.
