Hello,

In December I started looking for flights to NYC for my parents and me as we wanted to have a few nice days togehther. As VS had very low fares compared to LH and other carriers, I fell in love with the idea of transiting through London and going Upper Class as I had always wanted to try it. I almost booked the flights but after reading a few posts here I decided to wait for a sale [:D]
I have to say that I started browsing V-Flyer over two years ago and became more and more fascinated by VS. But now that I actually had the opportunity to book an UC flight, I realized that the forum was full of TR's with crestfallen comments which really made me wonder whether I wasn't risking too much. It felt like swimming against the current.
Anyway, once my parents agreed that it was not a waste of money - the GBP-EUR exchange rate really helped there - I booked the flights. As we were only able to get the 99 LH transfer flights by going to London City outbound and from Heathrow inbound, we now have the following itinerary: Arrival at LCY is on a thursday at 1 p.m., then
we'll take VS045 at 2 p.m. the next day. This is perfect as my parents have never been to London before.
Now my question is: Can you advise any hotels or a good restaurant for the evening? As the hotel does not have to be close to the airport, how would you travel from LCY and to LHR?

I was wondering whether this post actually belongs in the 'Travel' area as many people here are from London [:p]

Thanks,
Birdie

[:D] Welcome to V-Flyer[:D]

Do you want to overnight in London itself?

Are you wanting to go to the theatre?

What about the Millenium Eye?

Do you fancy a Big Red Bus Tour?

What type of hotel are you wanting?

What type of restaurant do you think you want?

I guess you are planning to get to the airport with a good few hours to spare to be able to enjoyhhh the whole CH experience?[}:)][:w]

If you define what you think you want to do then I'm sure that you will get plenty of helpful suggestions- & a few not so helpful (bless 'em)[}:)]

Welcome to the site. As R-P has stated a bit more information is neccessary to provide any useful assistance. It might help as well if we knew exactly when you were travelling and the type (rating)of hotel you're looking for(and if you're looking for a triple room for the night or two rooms).

Thank you for your answers, I have talked to my parents to hear their thoughts.
The dates are May 28th and 29th, a thursday and friday.
A hotel of four stars in London itself would be nice, I think a triple room will do for one night.
My mother hardly speaks any English so no theatre for us [ii]
The restaurant will be the agenda item of the evening then and is demanded quite a bit from. Above average I'd say, but it does not have to be one particular kind.
A bus tour is madatory although I have already done one, but apart from that we don't have any plans yet. The Millenium Eye is not an option.
I don't know whether there will be much time left anyway, and a bit of shopping has to be done as well.
With the clubhouse you are quite right of course [:D]

Well Hoxton Hotel is having a GBP1 a night sale in about 11.5 hours. Normally goes for about GBP110 a night.
