Y - On Cathay Pacific

The outlaws are looking to book to go to HKG on Cathay Pacific,
(i tried to get them onto VS but they were almost double the price [n])

The website says in Y they have the new shell seat, where the back doesn't move so as to not encrouch on the space of the passenger behind, but instaead the seat has an inner seat which moves down and forward. Strange

Has anyone ever travelled in this new seat, is it comfortable? Can't imagine it would be if the seat back doesn't move at all.

When are they travelling? My better half is travelling out on CX in Y on 6th Nov. If that is any help I will get the low down from him?

Won't be until May 2010, so details when the better half gets back will be greatly received.

Even though VS is more i tihnk we will travel on VS (the PE fare is very good), and they will be following us a week or so later.

From what I have been reading it's a love/hate thing with these seats, it seems to come down to your height, if your anything over 5'7 or have long legs avoid them as the seat moves forward and reduces seat pitch.

I take it they are flying from London, if so have a look at NZ, they have a very nice product in Y.

NZ's PE product is the bees knees too. A premium economy class seat and the Business class catering and beverages.

Oh! And VS miles too of course!

I've flown in that in November last year on a plane it had just rolled out on. To be honest it isn't all that great and you have to be the right shape for it as there is moulded foam rather than lots of padding so if your bumps don't match the seat's dips then you aren't able to get comfortable. All the planes with the new Y seat also have the new IFE which was really good, on the way back we were in an older plane which wasn't a patch on the new one except that it was so empty that I got a row to myself to lie across.

I will echo sentiments of the others in that if you are tall then you won't really fit!

From what I've heard about them, they do seem to be either a 'love them or hate them' seat with the tall people being the people who had the problems with the recline and legroom.
