Hello V-Flyer! [y]

So, with VS's recent cut backs and such, I have been looking into alternate ways in which i can travel. I'm a requent user of the LHR-NYC route mainly, and came across KLM.

I'm 6ft 3, and to be honest, economy is not the most comfortable way to travel [:p]. I noticed on KLM's website, they have various seats in economuy, including (what appears to be) exit row, 'extra legroom' and 2-seater configuration seats.

Has anyone had any experience with any of these?

Hmm
Well my Dad had a stroke shortly after flying to South Africa with KLM. I'm not saying it's related, but ... he and mum complained bitterly about the lack of room and about how much agony they were in when they got there. They're used to flying and have been doing so for many years, so I was surprised at their report. That was a good 10 years ago now... so perhaps things have changed.
Paying extra for the 2 seats together... do they mean the few rows at the back of the economy cabin on a 747? First time I've heard of an airline charging more for those seats.
I think the economy comfort option seems to be the equivalent of the United economy plus. Not sure what the extra legroom option is.
But as you're such a tall chap, I'd definitely look into one of those options.
Or book in business class direct on Air India from Heathrow for not much more :D

Economy Plus on UA isn't another cabin like VS or BA but just a section at the front of Y with rows of seats with about 4' extra legroom. I haven't flown it for years but it was free for *G and *S I believe, I think now it is just a small supliment.

I knew it wasn't another class. It seems that a lot of airlines are removing their Premium services. Maybe VS will be the only one with it soon! [:?]

If anyone has any options for me, feel free to put them here. Being this tall is a gift and a curse! [:D]

If you mean 'Premium' economy then not so, airlines are installing them such as AF, SAS, JAL, Qantas and others.

If you're restricted to Y and NYC-LHR then some options include:

- United W+
- AA, a few flights gets you to Gold AAdvantage and you can prebook exit row seats
- BA, for a fee you can prebook bulkhead and exit row seats

Others that fly the route include CO and DL however I know nothing of their services.

Is AI still doing the LHR-NYC route ? I seem to remember them having a good seat pitch.

I flew UA LHR-ORD a few years ago and at that time Economy Plus cost me 40 on the outbound leg. Certainly made a difference.
