Hi

Has anyone ever stayed at either Sheraton Vistana Resort or Vistana Village in Orlando. I have checked out Tripadvisor - lots of positive comments but worryingly counteracted by a number of very negative comments.

I would really appreciate any feedback from others on V-Flyer.

Many thanks

Hi Jane

I have stayed at Sheraton Vistana Village three times over the past 3 years. (Once as a timeshare exchange & twice as a paying guest). I have generally found the place to be very nice and well run - have booked to stay there for 11 days next May.

OK, I could have been lucky and just been allocated a clean, well maintained Condo on each occasion. However, I don't think this is the case - I remember last May we had a good Florida thunderstorm that lasted all afternoon and well into the night. The following morning the groundsmen were out tidying up the paths where the rain had washed soil onto the path etc.

I've only had 2 minor issues with the Vistana Village;

1. Nowhere near enough staff on the front desk at 4pm on a Saturday (peak arrival time). Waited over 45mins to check-in as there were only 3 staff on duty. By contrast, it took me less than 30mins from leaving the plane at MCO to being in my rental car.

2. The wi-fi internet did not support streaming video (YouTube) back in May. I had my access suspended for daring to watch a short clip on YouTube - phoned the toll-free support number and the access was reinstated straight away with a verbal telling-off not to use YouTube.

The best two timeshare resorts I've stayed in on I-Drive are the Sheraton Vistana Village & the Hilton Grand Vacation Club at SeaWorld (the latter is well worth a look if you want somewhere a bit nearer to the attractions - you could walk to SeaWorld). If you've any specific queries about the Vistana Village, feel free to PM me.

Thanks both of you.

James - Your post has been really helpful and has certainly put my mind at rest.

This will be a timeshare exchange over Christmas and New Year 2010/11; I have always been lucky with previous exchanges and am hoping that my luck will continue!

Just to echo what James has daid- we stayed at the Vistana Village in a 2 bed appartment three years ago as an RCI exchange. No complaints whatsever - pretty standard Gold Crown resort. We've stayed in a few exchange properties in the Orlando area and it's probably our favourite to date.

stayed here numerous times over last couple of decades.. (Vistana Resort..Now a owner via inheritance )

location hard to beat, on the door step to Disney, and downtown disney..far enough away from the overly opportunistic part of international drive..good access for seaworld/ other parks.. The assumption is you will have a car?

Vistana, excellent pools (numerous), and sports facilities..Good onsite Deli/starbucks/pizza hut etc although very pricey..
(Drive thru starbucks across the road and plenty of stuff nearby)

NB: some of the 1-bed apartments are bit titchy (well one we had for a single night couple yrs back), and would try and get something in the Falls or Cascades..The recently modernised 2 beds in the Falls etc are lovely..rich hardwood furniture, Bose this & that electronics and recent bathroom overalls.. Typical American kitchen & utilities..
(check to see if its a modernised unit)

Eating out, plenty a short distance away..

If you've got this as a swap I'd not be too concerned and worth it..

However, expect to be pushed a bit by the Starwood vacation thing..play the game and they offer some good stuff, for a hour of Bull..(worked out great for us on a very rainy day this year)
