FWIW was originally broadcast June 2007.

I recall the two guys there for a weekend long break, just zero control and bank roll management from one of thenm, how not to go to Vegas!

Yeah, it's pretty old now but I still enjoy watching it, I got it on Sky+ the other night.

I remember the high roller nonchalantly feeding 100 dollar bills into slot machines while chatting to Louis.

Watched and loved it, both times it was on. I still can't get to how people can go along with a gambling budget of a few thousand $$$ though. I was right there with Louis when he wanted to take the $60 he won - I'd have been out the door in a shot.

Obviously, I'd be useless as a career gambler....[:X]

Me too!

I only play a bit of 25c video poker when we are there.

However, there was that time in the Venetian a couple of years ago.

We were due to check out. I had gone to the casino loyalty card booth to see what my points were worth ($12 woohoo). As I had just joined the club I was offered a choice of a Blue Man Group ticket or $50 Spa credit or $50 dining credit or $50 game play. As we were checking out I took the $50 game play.

I decided to blow it on $1 video poker on max bet, so $5 a go (high roller eh?). As you cannot cash the $50, I was going to cash any winnings.

On my first push I won $15, not bad. On my 3rd push I had the Ace, Queen, 10 and 7 of diamonds plus another card. I was going to hold the 4 diamonds hoping for a flush but I thought 'what the heck' and held the Ace, Queen and Ten.

In popped the Jack and King of Diamonds

The casino's $50 had won me $4200 [^]

I was late meeting up with the wife and kids, she didn't seem to mind after I had explained why [:D]

I watched this last night - they were all crazy, I just can't understand how someone can feed bills in like that high roller, still I suppose he did win $5000 after he said 'right I've got to stop, I've got a meeting' ...

A $100 bill to him is probably like 20 cents to most people.

I think the most disturbing thing was either the older lady who had been going every day for 7 years or the guy playing blackjack chasing his losses. Despite him saying at the start he had a $15k bankroll and you should only bring with you what you could afford to lose, when he was $14k down he certainly wasn't behaving like someone who could afford to lose that money. I think the lady had some control though, she seemed to be able to afford it and was very relaxed all the time.

My piece of advise to anyone when going to a casino or any form of gambling is DONT take what you can afford to lose but WHAT YOU ARE PREPARED TO LOSE! Which should be a much lower figure.

Bear in mind, if the casino's only had people playing 25c slot machine then the grandeur that is Las Vegas just wouldn't exist. So as much as we can deride these people who treat $100 bill like 5c it does provide the rest of us with a mecca of entertainment.
